Do you already have a domain name?
Think of an appropriate name for your domain. Does it remind you of your activity or with the things you want to show?
THE SITE ITSELF
Make a clear plan and overview of the website.Make a list of topics and things that will be on the site. Collect and prepare all the photos and illustrations. More information on format and details will be given later in a separate article. Write or collect your texts and divide them into categories.
For example, would you like to have 1 or more photo albums on your website, divided by theme or category?
Perhaps you would like to recount your adventures in an illustrated blog?
Who knows, you might be operating a nice little bakery in the old centre of the village or town, for which you will soon want to set up an online shop.
When writing texts, also think of appropriate descriptions/key words to include in them as they can serve as the basis for an SEO policy.
Opt for a robust and secure CMS to build the site, e.g. Joomla.
As a web developer, I obviously offer my services, but if you want to get started yourself, I suggest using a robust and reliable Open Source CMS (Content Management System) such as Drupal, Joomla, WordPress or Typo 3 and choosing a company that knows and uses these systems sufficiently. Simple systems junnen sometimes a temporary solution but are often too limited in their capabilities.
But you may want to go 100% on your own and not shy away from acquiring new knowledge. That does not sound very appealing to people who want everything pre-written but the choice is completely free to do what you want. Perhaps a Facebook or similar account will suffice.
Personally, I have the most experience with the Joomla CMS and have used it most often over the past 10 years. Wordpress does have the most users but one needs to know the jungle of extensions a bit to evaluate them effectively.
By the way, a vibrant community to fall back on is a great plus for any system.
